The young Pegasus couldn't contain her excitement. Her turquoise wings twitched and her hooves fidgeted beneath her. Rainbow Dash couldn't stand still, no matter hard she tried nor how much her friends sighed in annoyance of her antics. To say she was joyful or happy would be an understatement. But today, and today only, would her friends allow this behaviour without uttering so much as a single complaint. She pounced up and down, her violet eyes eagerly searching throughout the crowd of gather ponies. The whole of Ponyville seemed to be gathered here, all with the hopes of meeting one of the most famous pony's in all of Equestria [disregarding the royal's, of course.]
Beside her, Apple Jack tipped her hat up, and let her emerald eyes scan the mob of ponies. It truly was hectic. There was barely any room to breathe. "Are you sure that he was going to be here?" She questioned, flashing her loud friend a concerned and uneasy smile. Sure, she was also a fan of 'said famous pony', but not as much as Rainbow. Rainbow Dash was borderline obsessive. Completely head over hooves and in love with him. "Maybe it was just some silly rumour," A.J suggested, attempting to let her good friend down lightly. "You know how everypony can be - you hear it, you pass it on! I'm sorry sugar cube, but I just don't think that he's going to be here."
The energetic Pegasus denied the statement, her vibrantly coloured mane swaying as she shook her head. "It's not a rumour, A.J! Have some faith, he's gonna be here!" The determined look stayed clear in her eyes.
Another of her friends, a fellow Pegasus by the name of Fluttershy nudged Dash. "He'll be here for sure!" She spoke timidly, yet determinedly. "A-And I cant wait to meet him! Y-You think h-he'll like us, Rainbow Dash?" Her quiet voice caused the others to strain their ears just to hear a single word that escaped her mouth. Practically everypony was bubbling with excitement that one pony had singlehandedly caused.
A series of gasps echoed throughout the front of the crowd. Upon hearing the sharp intakes of air, Rainbow and her two friends eagerly attempted to see through the crowd. "Oh my Celestia," a feminine voice choked on happiness. "You're awesome!" Yet another member of the crowd screamed. "I love you!" Yet another fanpony. "Let me have your babies!" Okay, maybe that pony was a little too much of a fan.
"I cant see," Rainbow whined. "I cant fly either! I'm stuck! Too many ponies!" She wiggled around her attempt to give herself some space, but just ended up with her wings bending oddly and hitting some annoyed ponies in the face. Over the sound of screaming ponies, she could just make out the smooth voice of her idol.
"Everypony, everypony! Please, calm yourselves! I'm just an ordinary pony! There's only so much screaming a guy can take!" However, the screaming did not stop. On the contrary, its volume increased. "Did someone touch my wing? Hey-- Watch it! Don't lick my feathers- What in the name of Celestia are you doing!?"
A hoof slammed into Rainbow's hind quarters, causing her to emit a loud yelp. The impact sent her tumbling forwards, and as she was thrown straight through the large mass of ponies, she could hear Apple Jack yelling, 'You'll thank me later, honey!' Her body slammed into the dirt with a thud, her wings hitting the ground first in a failed attempt of catching herself. Dust clouds blew up into action, swirling around her dizzy little form. A couple of gasps came from the crowd, probably because it looked as if some pony had just thrown herself at a celebrity. It wouldn't be much a surprise, really.
As her eyes continued to roll, and the sights around her blended together in a blurry mess, she could just make out the image of a pair of [hoof colour] hooves stood right before her. She could feel someone's breath trickling down her neck. She shook her head, her rainbow coloured mane flying around her head. Eventually, she could see clearly. Just as she was about to scream at the friend who had kicked her, she caught the sound of a voice.
"Are you alright, miss?"
She glanced up, coming face to face with a pair of shimmering [eye colour] eyes. He was stood over her, a concerned facial expression surfacing. "You took quite a hit there," he continued. "Did someone push you?" As the words left his mouth, she could hear the faint snickers of Apple Jack in the background.
Rainbow Dash could do nothing more than stare up at her idol. Every detail caught her eye. The way his [mane length] [mane colour] was ruffled, yet neat. The way his eyes were a dull shade of [eye colour], yet sparks of emotions ignited within his eyes if you were to look close enough. The way his wings were relaxed, the feathers pristine and looking as soft as soft could get. She couldn't see his cutie mark from where she was, but she'd had the image imprinted in her mind. She new every single line of the image that was imprinted onto his body. She was absolutely speechless.
"Your wings are looking a little ruffled there," he commented, a frown tugging at his mouth. "Were you hurt?" His head tilted, as his [eye colour] gaze flickered between the young filly and her wings.
Finally managing to gain control of her body, she shook her head violently. "N-No, sir! I-I'm fine! I'm the g-great Rainbow Dash!" She wanted to give out her trademark grin, but she couldn't bring herself to. She was too busy letting herself get warped into his eyes.
"Rainbow Dash?" The name rolled beautifully off his tongue. The quiet sound of other ponies chattering seemed to go completely ignored. Rainbow and her idol were alone in their own world. "I've heard of you," a grin tugged onto his face. "The fastest pony in all of Equestria, eh~?"
Upon realising that she quite often describes herself as big-headedly as this, she shook her head again, pretty violently. "N-No, sir! Y-You're the fastest pony in all of Equestria!" Her cheeks were glowing red. How had he known who she was? The thought of it was terrifying, yet thrilling.
He released a deep chuckle that warmed her to the very core. "Why are you still on the floor, Rainbow~?" He flashed her a grin. She shook, feeling queasy that he was saying her name. Of all the names he could be saying, he was saying hers. "I-I-I-I-" The words refused to escape her mouth.
Without another word, he held out a hoof. "Allow me to help you, Rainbow," he didn't even wait for her to accept before he hauled her up. She hadn't expected him to use such force, and had ended up tumbling into his chest. He didn't budge in the slightest, still standing firm and upright.
But as she came to the sudden realisation that she had just stumbled into her idol's chest, she felt his wings enclose around her. The soft, feathers ghosted across her flank, leaving invisible trails of electricity that shot up the young pony's spine. She felt the weight of his head rest upon the top of hers, and could feel the vibrations of his chest when he spoke the next sentence.
"How about you become my apprentice, eh? We'll see about making you into the best flyer in the whole of Equestria."
